It has been a busy year with many wonderful concerts. Highlights of my 2014 season were performances in April with Neeme Yarvi performing Chopin's 2nd piano concerto and with Iranian conductor Alexander Rahbari in Antalya, performing Mozart's concerto in D minor K466.
It was a huge honour to be the recipient of the 42nd International Istanbul Music Festival Honorary award, which I received in a ceremony in May of this year. The award was given in recognition of an outstanding life-long career, and in addition for promoting the works of my mentor and teacher Ahmed Adnan Saygun throughout the world.
It was fitting therefore to take to the road with conductor Sacha Goetzel in the same month to perform twice Saygun's Piano Concerto no.1 in France with the Bretagne Symphony Orchestra.
On my return, after a concert in the 13th International Mersin Music Festival, it was time for the beginning of the Gümüslük Festival, of which I have been the artistic advisor for 11 years. Here, as always I enjoyed very much giving masterclasses, together with other pianists including Jean-Bernard Pommier, Kemal Gekic and Ilya Itin, as well as performing in the festival in solo and chamber concerts.
Following this, it was rewarding to take some of the very talented Turkish students with me to a masterclass in Lesa, Italy where we worked together for four days.
October was a very busy month with three recitals in Istanbul, and four others in four different cities.
November saw me in the States and Japan with recitals in Berkeley and Osaka. I returned from tour in early December and jumped straight back into my schedule, performing 3 concerts in Istanbul, including a concert to mark the birthday of the fantastic pianist Turkish pianist Verda Erman, who we sadly lost this year.
Next year holds many exciting projects and concerts. 2015 will see me return to the USA twice, and I will also be travelling to Argentina and Malta. My first concert of the new year will be in Cambridge where I will perform with my violinist son Erkin works by Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy and Saygun.
On the 7th of January I perform with the newly founded Olten Philharmonic Orchestra at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun concert hall in Izmir. A charity recital for UNICEF follows in Ankara on the 9th of January, and on the 15th of January I will play Chopins 2nd piano concerto with the Bursa State Orchestra.
Thank you all for listening, and may your 2015 be full of wonderful music and memories.

With my very best wishes for 2015,
