A SEASON HIGHLIGHT IN ODESSA AND COLOGNE
Gülsin Onay's rendition of Rachmaninov's 3rd piano concerto is a highlight of the concert season both in Odessa and in Cologne. Ms. Onay plays with maestro Hobart Earle and the Odessa Philharmonic in both cities, with the second performance in Odessa tonight and concluding in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall on the 14th of February.
Onay - "A Rachmaninov interpreter with sensitive decisiveness and intelligent brilliance", in the words of the Austrian critic and writer Peter Cosse - has performed the 3rd concerto with many orchestras and conductors all over the world, including under the baton of the paragon of Rachmaninov interpreters, Vladimir Ashkenazy.
No stranger to the Odessa Philharmonic, Gülsin Onay first performed with them in Odessa in June 2009, and she looks forward to a continuing partnership with one of the finest orchestras to emerge from the former Soviet Union. In the words of The Gramophone, the rise to prominence of the Odessa Philharmonic under their dynamic American conductor Hobart Earle is "one of the unlikeliest stories to have emerged from the classical music world in recent times... critics the world over, from Vienna to New York to Moscow, clearly know a good thing when they hear it".
Gülsin Onay's schedule continues with a tour to the United States and Canada, with six concerts in major cities from Miami to Montreal.
