CHOPIN FESTIVAL OPENS WITH GÜLSIN ONAY
The 2009 International Piano Festival of the Chopin Society, UK opens with Gülsin Onay’s recital.
Having performed in over 55 countries throughout the world, Gülsin Onay made her Odessa debut on 19-20 June to yet another rapturous audience at the packed Philharmonic Hall. Her rendition of Rachmaninov’s 3rd Piano Concerto with the Odessa Philharmonic conducted by Hobart Earle won the hearts and minds of both the musicians and the music lovers.
This weekend takes Gülsin Onay to more familiar grounds. The acclaimed Turkish pianist will appear once more on the London stage to open the International Piano Festival by the Chopin Society.
Gülsin Onay was honoured with the award of a State Medal by the Polish nation for her exceptional Chopin interpretations, regarded widely as “not only strong and convincing, but with very personal touches and distinctive” by music critics.
Gülsin Onay will perform works of Chopin, as well as by Haydn and Mozart at the opening recital of the International Piano Festival at the St. Gabriel’s Church on June 28th.
